They involve applying special test patches or drops containing suspected allergens to the skin (usually on the back or forearm). If, after several dozen hours, redness or blistering appears on the skin, it means a positive test result, i.e. an allergy to a given allergen.<\/p>\n<p>Skin tests are recommended for people with allergic symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing, watery eyes, hives, eczema or bronchial asthma. Thanks to them, it is possible to confirm or rule out an allergy as the cause of the ailment and treat it accordingly. They can also be used to control the effectiveness of desensitization.<\/p>\n<p>At our medical center in Krakow, we perform various types of skin tests for the most common allergens: grass and tree pollen, dust mites, mold, animal hair, food, latex or metals. The tests are carried out by experienced allergists and the patient receives a detailed interpretation of the results.
